DARKNESS DOES NOT LAST FOREVERBy Pastor Dorsey E. Marshall Jr.
"Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning." Psalm 30:5
Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes, real courage finds a quiet place, and rest, and listens for the quiet voice at the ending of the day, and purpose within the heart says, "I will try again." This is the thought pattern we must maintain, when life seems heavy. Jesus said in Matthew 11:28, "Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." 1 Peter 5:7 goes on with, "Casting all your care upon him; for he cares for you." Then in Psalm 30:4, "Sing unto the Lord, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness."
These passages are enough to get you through any and every heaviness you can imagine or experience. Life, sometimes, seems so heavy. Why is this? I just cannot figure it out? All I see is a little picture, and this piece of the puzzle doesn't belong in my big dream? This little picture seems to hide or, at least, distort the bigger. However, this one thing I know, God is bigger and will get me through life's heaviest hour. My responsibility is to trust Him and glorify Him, in the difficult days, as well as when I am singing on the mountain.
Heavy is ... having great weight; hard to bear; of weighty importance; serious; deep; profound; grievous; down by something oppressive; lacking sparkle; dulled with weariness; or having stress. Does that describe anyone you know? Sure, life gets heavy, and the older I get, it sometimes seems heavier. We hurt for us and for others that have made poor choices? We hurt as we see the heaviness of this world pressing the ones we love? We suffer and cannot seem to get a grip on the bigger picture. We are never exempt from this heaviness that's life. But God knew heaviness would try to dim our lights. The bigger picture cannot be distorted by heaviness, if our eyes are fixed on the King of glory.
We can make it. We can go on. We can come through, for this too shall pass. We are candles, and we give ourselves to the Light. His Presence we seek. His voice we listen for. Let others see Jesus in our eyes. Let us never lose focus of the main thing. Good always comes out of bad! In God we trust.
LET US PRAY: "Father, I may not have the answers for my situation, today. I will trust You for protection, and declare Your mighty works, In Jesus' Name, Amen!"
"What makes the desert beautiful is that somewhere it hides a well."
